How to play Daylink
Daylink is a free daily word puzzle. Four words share a hidden link. Unscramble them one at a time, collect the gold letters and guess the link, ideally before you've unscrambled them all. Every day's answer is a clue to tomorrow's puzzle.
Play today's Daylink1. Four words share a link
Each day there are four words, and one hidden word goes with all of them, before or after, as one word or two. For example, BRUSH, PASTE, ACHE and PICK all go with TOOTH: toothbrush, toothpaste, toothache, toothpick. (This is an example, not a real day.)
2. Unscramble the words, one at a time
The words arrive scrambled, one after the other. Tap the letters in order to unscramble the word in front of you, and the next one appears.
You get 3 tries at each word. Miss it three times and the word is shown so you can carry on, but you don't get its gold letters and it costs one of your three link guesses.
3. Each word earns gold letters
Every word you unscramble earns one or two gold letters. Together they spell the link, jumbled. The ones you haven't earned yet wait as ?.
4. Guess the link early
Tap your gold letters into the link boxes to spell the answer. Think you know it already? Tap an empty box and type any letter. The fewer words you needed, the better your score, so the fun is deciding when to stop unscrambling and go for it. You get 3 guesses at the link.
| Psychic | Found the link without unscrambling a word |
| Genius | After 1 word |
| Sharp | After 2 words |
| Got it | After 3 or 4 words, or with a missed word along the way |
| Stumped | Three wrong guesses (or three missed words) |
5. Every answer is a clue to tomorrow
Here's the twist that makes Daylink a word chain: each day's link is one of the next day's four words. Tomorrow, today's answer shows up as word 1. If you found it, it starts already unscrambled, with its gold letters, so you're one word ahead.
Find the link every day and your chain grows. Consecutive answers always join up, like FIRE and CROSS (crossfire) or ROAD and SIDE (roadside). Miss a day and the chain starts again, but your past links and your best chain are kept.
Share without spoilers
When you're done, share your result as a picture or as text. It shows your rank and a square for each word (🟨 unscrambled, 🟥 missed, ⬜ not needed, ⛓️ yesterday's link) but never the answer, so it's safe to post the same day. You can also share your whole chain as a picture.
Tips
- Say each unscrambled word with possible partners: "___ brush", "brush ___". The link often jumps out after two words.
- The link can make two words, like beach ball or road trip, not just one.
- Yesterday's answer is always one of today's words, so it's a free hint about what kind of words to expect.
- Gold letters are jumbled. Try them in different orders before you guess.
Questions
Is Daylink free?
Yes. It's free to play in any browser, with no ads and no sign-up.
When is there a new puzzle?
Every day at midnight where you are. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day.
Is Daylink like Wordle?
It's a daily word game you play once a day and share without spoilers, like Wordle. But instead of guessing a five-letter word, you unscramble four words and find the word that links them, and every day's answer carries over into the next day's puzzle.
Does the link make one word or two?
Either. It goes before or after each word, as one word (snowball) or two (beach ball).
What happens if I miss a day?
Your chain starts again from zero, but nothing is lost: your past links stay in Your chain, and your best chain is kept.
Can I play it like an app?
Yes. Add Daylink to your phone's home screen and it opens full screen like an app and works offline.
